The Renaissance The Baroque Rome

Renaissance Rome did not have the impact it had on Florence.

papal influence has much to do, and, anyway, the city was sacked in 1527 by troops of Charles V, there remains much of this period.

with the notable exception of the Place du Capitole, completely redesigned by Michelangelo after the sack of Rome.

The Capitol Hill is the smallest of Rome, but also the most important because the political center of the city since ancient times. Even today, the mayor is installed.
